Another Earth Day Is Here!
Serving as a great reminder that we all must continue to work together to create better products and manufacturing practices, in order to reduce our consumption and impact on the planet.
A19 is much more than a lighting corporation, we are a close nit family-style company, that is committed to the community and the environment. We align our work practices and principles to the manufacturing and distribution of our products, and the impact that they may have on our planet.
We see lighting as more than just pretty fixtures. At A19 our fixtures not only articulate our passion for craftsmanship but our way in which we carry out responsible manufacturing practices. We source our materials as locally as possible to help build employment in the region, minimize fuel usage, and reduce our carbon footprint.
Nearly every speck of clay, shard of glass, and drop of water involved is reclaimed. Our clay bodies and glazes are also painted by hand using lead-free low-VOC finishes and do not contain any material in sufficient quantity to be toxic or to constitute a chronic health hazard.
Being energy efficient conscious does not compromise our products quality, nothing outlasts ceramic! Our low-fire clay uses substantially less energy to create and constitutes for a more durable and long-lasting product. Our ceramic wall sconces and pendants are designed, molded, fired, sanded, finished, assembled and shipped directly from our studio in Ontario, California. Thus, supporting local employment and creative workforce reducing our transportation emissions and overall carbon footprint.
Think of the Turtles
When we think of lighting, especially on Earth Day, we may be more conscientious of the light pollution we are producing. Which is why for our outdoor beach front areas we should be considering shedding light downward to minimize sky glow and glare.
Ceramic down-lights that have red or amber-toned bulbs can also help reduce the ecological impact on hatchling turtles, as they can become disoriented and wander inland to traditional blue-toned lighting. It’s time for you to use these new lighting options and help do your part in keeping the environment and our animals safe.
Our Collections That Match
Earth Day gives us the time to think more organically, so bring nature indoors this Earth Day with some nature styled Collections.
Wall sconces and pendants created to resemble all the colors, textures and designs you find in nature and that resemble stone, bark, bamboo, and shells. The advantages of ceramic over the real natural material are that while the fixture may look like bamboo or wood, it is substantially more durable.
Recycled fused glass takes lighting to the next level by creating a stunning array of textures, colors, and patterns that have an organic, natural feel—including bubbles, speckles, and crackles. Created from reclaiming window glass and turning into fused art-glass, it’s something you won’t find anywhere else but from A19.
