Our Rocky Sconce is a rectangular-shaped flush wall light. It projects an up-and-down light pattern. This occurs through its open top and bottom. Designers enjoy using our wall sconces for lighting guest bathrooms, grand entryways, outdoor patios, and other architectural features. They also enjoy specifying a custom finish to match their color palette. Another design tip is to mix-and-match with other light fixture styles from our reFusion Collection. You can also enjoy using energy efficient LED smart light bulbs. All of our ceramic lighting is meticulously handmade in the USA by our local artisans; built to last indefinitely.

INDOOR/OUTDOOR USE

All of our fixtures can be used for both indoor and outdoor locations. Our fixtures are rated for standard use for indoor and damp locations. Such as, bathrooms, patios and covered garages. Our Standard/Damp Location wall sconces when used outdoors need to be under an eave or overhang.

Finishes

While our bisque ceramic finish is beautiful in its natural bare state, we can make it ANY color. Choose from one of our popular glazes, faux or solid acrylic finishes, or specify a color from a recognized quality paint brand (e.g. Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore). If you enjoy DIY, our bare bisque ceramic is smooth and easy to paint.

BARE BISQUE

Our clay produces a beautiful matte off-white bisque finish when fired. You can use our natural bisque fixtures for a clean and simple look, you can paint the bare bisque yourself, or we can apply your choice of finish for you.

CUSTOM OPTIONS GALORE

Allow us to make your fixtures match your decor perfectly. If one of our most popular finishes isn’t exactly what you’re looking for, you can

  • Specify a paint brand, color and sheen
  • Select one of our sumptuous kiln-fired glazes
  • Or, choose a signature A19 faux finish

All of our finishes are applied to order. Adding a finish makes your order custom. Custom fixtures are non-returnable. Subtle differences in color and texture from batch to batch are characteristics of our handmade products.

Installation

All of our lighting fixtures come complete with installation hardware and are easy to mount to a standard round or octagonal junction box. Watch how to install A19’s artisan ceramic wall sconces.

WALL SCONCE MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS

CAUTION: FAILURE TO INSTALL THIS FIXTURE PROPERLY MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH AND PROPERTY DAMAGE. We recommend installation by a licensed electrician.

This product must be installed in accordance with applicable installation code(s), by a person familiar with the construction and operation of the product and the hazards involved.*

Caution: Do not exceed maximum wattage noted on fixture.

Parts Included:

To Install

  1. Turn off power at the main breaker box prior to starting installation.
  2. Using two box machine screws (G) and fasten the crossbar (H) to the electric box.
  3. Thread the nipple (E) into the crossbar.
  4. Using suitable wire connectors (not provided) connect the fixture wires to supply wires—white to white (K) and black to black (I). Connect ground wires (J) to crossbar ground screw (F).

Caution: Make sure wire connectors are secure, and no bare wire is exposed.

  1. Place the ceramic fixture (B) over the box so that the threaded nipple protrudes through the mounting hole in the fixture.
  2. Place the rubber washer (D) then brass washer (C) over the nipple and fasten securely with knurled nut (A). Do not over tighten or ceramic may crack.
  3. Install light bulb(s).
  4. Restore electricity at main breaker.

Care & Maintenance

BARE BISQUE

Natural “bisque” (unpainted ceramic) fixtures can be cleaned by sanding with fine 150-grit sandpaper. Do not use liquid cleaners on the porous bisque surface.

PAINTING BISQUE

If you enjoy DIY, our bare bisque ceramic is smooth and easy to paint. You may use any basic acrylic or latex paint of your choosing. For the ease of clean-up, etc. water based paint is recommended. Should you choose oil based paint (e.g., a can of spray paint), we recommend using an appropriate primer first; otherwise, a primer is not necessary.

FINISHES

A19’s finishes are durable enough to hold up to wear both indoors and out. The exterior surface can be dusted or wiped clean with a non-abrasive damp cloth or sponge.

DAMP & WET LOCATIONS

To prevent water from reaching the electrical connections, apply a bead of silicone around the full perimeter of the fixture housing to seal it to the wall surface. Our standard damp location fixtures are suitable for indoor or outdoor locations subject to condensation of moisture. Select our Outdoor/WET rated option when the light fixture or electrical components will be directly exposed to rain water.

LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY

A19 ceramic lighting fixtures are made under the highest standards of quality and workmanship. In addition to, A-19, Inc. warrants to the original consumer purchaser for as long as the original consumer purchaser owns their home.
